The announcement by the SLGA to discontinue funding to horse racing in Saskatchewan came as a shock to everyone. We feel this decision was made with little consultation and without the realization it could end all horse racing in Saskatchewan. The HBPA will be working to remedy this situation by meeting with Marquis Downs management and other groups with vested interest in horse racing. We are confident that together we can secure racing at Marquis Downs in 2013 and the future. We have met with Doug King of the SLGA and Mark Regier from Prairieland Park in regards to the announcement. Meetings and further discussions are planned for the near future. We will keep everyone posted as to progress and actions that may need to be taken.
